S. Korean Golfers Aim for PGA Tour Dreams at TPC Sawgrass

Ponte vedra beach: Ok Tae-hoon and Bae Yong-jun, two prominent figures in South Korean golf, are on the cusp of achieving their lifelong dream as they prepare to compete in the PGA Tour Q-School final stage at TPC Sawgrass in Florida this week.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the prestigious 72-hole stroke play tournament begins on Thursday and offers the top five finishers an opportunity to secure their PGA Tour cards for 2026. In cases of a tie for the fifth position, a playoff will determine the final qualifier. Ok Tae-hoon, who clinched the Player of the Year title on the Korea PGA (KPGA) Tour in 2025, earned a direct entry into this decisive stage. His impressive 2025 season included leading the domestic competition in money and scoring average, along with three victories and seven top-10 finishes.

In an interview with the PGA Tour from Seoul, Ok expressed his gratitude for reaching the final stage, sharing his long-held dream of playing on the PGA Tour. Reflecting on his successful season, Ok credited his all-around game and mental fortitude for his achievements. He also mentioned his desire to play alongside Tommy Fleetwood, the English golfer known for his recent PGA Tour victory.

Bae Yong-jun, another KPGA Tour standout, advanced to this crucial phase by surviving the second stage of Q-School. After finishing fifth in the KPGA Player of the Year points race, Bae was the only KPGA member to progress beyond that point. Bae shared his childhood dream of playing on the PGA Tour and emphasized his dedication to reaching that goal.

Bae is preparing for challenging conditions at TPC Sawgrass, where the Dye's Valley Course and Sawgrass Country Club will host the final stage. He has been practicing low-trajectory shots to combat the expected gusty weather and is focusing on his short game to navigate the demanding courses effectively.

Noh Seung-yul, a former PGA Tour member, will join Ok and Bae as the only other South Korean golfer in the final stage this week.
