Seoul: Foreign Minister Cho Hyun met with Mexican counterpart Roberto Velasco to explore enhancing bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), energy security, and other significant areas, as reported by Seoul's foreign ministry.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting took place in Seoul, where Cho emphasized the growing importance of bilateral ties amid global economic uncertainties, which include challenges related to supply chains, energy, food, and security. He also advocated for strengthening the institutional foundation for trade and investment while expanding cooperation into sectors such as AI, space, education, and the defense industry.

Velasco highlighted the necessity for both countries to aid in constructing a more inclusive and representative international order that incorporates the perspectives of middle powers. He acknowledged that their bilateral relationship is grounded in shared principles of democracy, human rights, and adherence to international law.

Additionally, the two ministers noted that President Lee Jae Myung accepted an invitation from Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to visit Mexico, following their meeting in May, as stated by the ministry.
