S. Korea to Pursue Trade Agreements with African Nations, Says Vice Minister

Seoul: South Korea will push for trade agreements with African nations, while working to deepen ties in supply chains for critical minerals and manufacturing, Seoul's vice trade minister said Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Vice Trade Minister Park Jung-sung emphasized the importance of collaboration between South Korea and Africa amid challenges in the global trade environment. He highlighted that such cooperation can foster growth for both sides and transform crises into opportunities. Park reiterated the government's commitment to actively pursuing trade agreements with African countries and enhancing supply chain cooperation in critical minerals and the manufacturing sector.

The Korea-Africa forum on trade and industrial cooperation, held on Monday in Seoul, saw the participation of around 100 officials from both sides. This included foreign envoys from 12 African nations and business figures, as reported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.
