Busan: The oceans ministry announced Monday its commitment to meticulously prepare for a global maritime conference set to take place in the country this April. This conference will provide a platform for nations and civic organizations to engage in discussions about the future of the maritime sector.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the 10th Our Ocean Conference (OOC) will occur under the theme "Our Ocean, Our Action" for three days starting April 28 in the southern port city of Busan. The event is anticipated to attract up to 2,000 participants, including government representatives from around 50 countries, as reported by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
Oceans Minister Kang Do-hyung emphasized the country's objective to become a leading nation in global maritime and fisheries sectors through the successful hosting of the 10th OOC. His remarks were made during a second round of meetings focused on preparations for the event.
The annual conference, initiated in 2014, serves as a venue for sharing ideas on numerous issues pertaining to the ocean environment, including the maritime economy and security.
The ministry further stated that during the event, representatives from governments, international organizations, and civic societies will participate in discussions and commitments aimed at tackling challenges within the maritime sector.
