South korea: South Korea's finance ministry has decided to impose antidumping duties on Chinese butyl acrylate, concluding that these imports have harmed the domestic industry.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ministry of Finance and Economy announced that it will implement antidumping duties ranging from 8.32 percent to 19.17 percent on imported products. This decision follows an investigation conducted by the Korea Trade Commission.

The antidumping duties are set to take effect on September 28 and will remain in place until September 27, 2031. The formal investigation began in September 2025 after a complaint was filed by LG Chem Ltd.

In 2024, the domestic market for butyl acrylate was valued at approximately 100 billion won (US$73 million), with Chinese imports accounting for 47 percent of the market share. The finance ministry stated that the measure aims to address the damage caused by low-priced dumped imports and to rectify market distortions resulting from unfair pricing practices.

Butyl acrylate is a clear, colorless chemical utilized in the production of various paints, coatings, and adhesives. It also plays a role in the manufacturing of plastics and textiles.
