Seoul: South Korea on Monday reported an additional case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) at a farm in the southwestern city of Namwon, the agriculture ministry said. The new case was detected at a broiler breeder farm in the city, approximately 265 kilometers south of Seoul, increasing the total number of HPAI infections this season to 11.
According to Yonhap News Agency, authorities have deployed a response team to the farm to cordon off entry and carry out culling and epidemiological investigations. They have also imposed a temporary ban on livestock facilities and vehicles from the nearby counties of Gurye, Gokseong, Hadong, and Hamyang, restricting movement to other locations for 24 hours as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the disease.
