Seoul: The government announced on Monday that it will implement a ban on the stockpiling of medical syringes and needles starting Tuesday, in response to ongoing concerns over supply disruptions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the measure will restrict manufacturers from accumulating medical syringes and needles beyond 150 percent of their average monthly sales from the previous year, for a period of five days. Furthermore, manufacturers are prohibited from selling these products in quantities exceeding 110 percent of their monthly sales recorded last year.

These steps have been introduced as fears grow over potential supply disruptions. The recent U.S.-Iran conflict has led to a significant increase in the prices of petrochemicals, which are crucial components in the production of medical syringes and needles.
