Seoul: The KOSPI 200, South Korea's benchmark stock index, witnessed a mixed performance with several notable shifts in the stock prices of major companies. The closing prices revealed that while some companies experienced gains, others faced declines, reflecting a fluctuating market sentiment.
According to Yonhap News Agency, among the gainers, Sanil Electric marked a substantial increase, closing at 172,900, up by 19,400. LIG Nex1 also saw a significant rise, ending at 939,000, an increase of 18,000. Hankuk Carbon and COSMAX closed at 50,700 and 199,100, with gains of 4,150 and 12,400, respectively. Another notable performer was SeAH Steel Holdings, which closed at 237,500, up by 5,500.
On the downside, Samsung CandT faced a steep decline, closing at 289,500, down by 13,000. TaekwangInd and Hyundai Glovis also experienced notable decreases, closing at 1,159,000 and 212,000, down by 15,000 and 6,500, respectively. Samsung Biologics and HanjinKal ended the day at 1,550,000 and 110,100, marking declines of 21,000 and 7,600.
The fluctuations in the stock prices highlight the dynamic nature of the market. Companies such as GS and KT saw upward movements, closing at 72,700 and 63,000, with increases of 1,000 and 900, respectively. Conversely, large companies like Samsung Card and LG Corp. experienced declines, closing at 53,100 and 91,000, down by 1,900 and 2,000, respectively.
