Washington: The Korea Customs Service (KCS) reported that it engaged in high-level discussions with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) last week with the goal of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the customs authorities of South Korea and the United States.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting took place in Washington, D.C., on Friday, involving key representatives including Park Hun from the KCS and Ha Sung-h from the CBP, along with other officials. This interaction was initiated as part of the South Korean government's strategy to address the challenges arising from U.S. tariff policies set during President Donald Trump's tenure.

During the discussions, both parties examined their perspectives on significant issues that concern both nations and deliberated on methods to enhance reciprocal customs cooperation. The KCS conveyed concerns and proposals from South Korean businesses operating in the United States, focusing on the difficulties faced during customs clearance processes.

The KCS emphasized its commitment to continuing cooperation with U.S. customs authorities to foster a more favorable trading environment for South Korean companies conducting business internationally.
