London: Kia Corp. has unveiled its new PV5 wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) at the Future of the Car Summit in London, marking a significant step in the company's commitment to promoting inclusive mobility.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the PV5 WAV, showcased at the automotive industry event hosted by the Financial Times, is crafted to enhance freedom of movement for wheelchair users, along with their families, caregivers, and drivers. The vehicle aims to provide a more convenient and accessible travel experience while supporting the shift to electric mobility.

The PV5 features a side-entry system, enabling wheelchair users to board safely from the sidewalk. It includes a specially designed third-row seat to assist caregivers in supporting passengers from the side. Additionally, it boasts a wheelchair entry ramp rated for 300 kilograms and a specially developed wheelchair belt fastening system.

Production of the model will take place at Kia's Hwaseong EVO Plant in South Korea, utilizing the company's custom production system aimed at ensuring ecological sustainability.

Kim Sang-dae, executive vice president and head of the PBV division at Kia, stated, "The PV5 WAV is more than just a vehicle. It is a gateway to independence and freedom for those with mobility challenges. We are paving the way for a future where everyone can enjoy the benefits of sustainable mobility."
