Tokyo: South Korea and Japan commenced director-level talks on Thursday aimed at strengthening their collaboration in the health and medical sectors, with a specific focus on digital medical products.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the two-day discussions are taking place in Tokyo and will conclude on Friday. The meetings involve director-level representatives from South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. The agenda includes a range of topics, such as the expedited introduction of new drugs and the establishment of regulatory frameworks for digital medical products.
In conjunction with the meetings, a joint symposium featuring the pharmaceutical associations of both countries will occur alongside the Tokyo talks. South Korea and Japan have been engaging in regular discussions to bolster their bilateral cooperation in these fields since they signed a memorandum of understanding in 2015.
