Seoul: Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jina met with Belen Martinez Carbonell, secretary general of the European External Action Service, to discuss ways to enhance supply chain cooperation and other key issues, as reported by the foreign ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim emphasized the importance of strengthening security cooperation between South Korea and the European Union (EU), expressing hope for concrete results during the upcoming security and defense dialogue scheduled for May. This reflects a shared interest in addressing global security challenges through collaborative efforts.
Carbonell highlighted the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in economic security. Discussions included initiatives to stabilize supply chains and secure critical minerals, emphasizing the necessity for regular dialogue to broaden cooperation. This approach aims to address current economic challenges and foster a resilient partnership.
The meeting also involved an exchange of views on regional situations, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine. Both parties agreed on the necessity of maintaining close communication at various levels to address these global issues effectively, according to the ministry.
