Pyongyang: A Russian official has commended the strengthening relations between Moscow and Pyongyang, emphasizing their joint efforts in "safeguarding" global justice against a shared adversary. This statement was made during a banquet hosted by the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang, as reported by a North Korean newspaper on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Rodong Sinmun newspaper quoted Russian Defense Attache Alexei Bartusov at a banquet held at the Taedonggang Diplomatic Club. The event marked Russia's Defender of the Fatherland Day on February 23, commemorating the founding of the Red Army. In attendance were Russia's acting ambassador to Pyongyang and North Korean officials. Bartusov highlighted the solidarity between the two nations, particularly noting North Korea's support for Russia through the dispatch of troops in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He expressed gratitude for North Korea's significant contribution to Russia's military efforts, particularly in the liberation of the Kursk region.

Bartusov further emphasized that the ties between Russia and North Korea have reached unprecedented levels, attributing this to the leadership of both countries. He expressed sincere appreciation for the support provided by the North Korean leadership and its people in Russia's ongoing struggle against Western powers.

During the event, a North Korean vice defense minister reiterated the strong ties between the two nations, describing their relationship as a "friendship forged in blood on the battlefield." The minister pledged North Korea's unwavering support for Russia, underscoring the enduring alliance between the two countries.

According to the embassy's Telegram account, attendees of the banquet also explored a photo exhibition at the diplomatic club. The exhibition showcased the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and highlighted the modern combat achievements of the Russian military.
