Seoul: The ruling Democratic Party (DP) and government officials have reached an agreement to provide energy vouchers to vulnerable households as a response to the escalating crisis in the Middle East. This measure is aimed at helping those most affected by the rising energy prices linked to ongoing regional tensions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the decision emerged from a meeting between DP lawmakers and energy ministry officials held at the National Assembly. During the discussions, the ruling party emphasized the need for the government to ensure that the increasing energy costs do not exacerbate the financial burden on low-income households, as conveyed by Rep. Kim Ju-young to reporters.

Rep. Kim stated, "The DP asked that the government maintain a thorough emergency response posture to prevent public inconvenience caused by disruptions in the supply of electricity, while also calling for support in public welfare so that the rising energy costs do not further burden vulnerable households."

In response, the government announced its plan to establish an emergency response team. This team will collaborate with state-run energy companies and private power generators to ensure a stable energy supply and mitigate potential disruptions.
