Seoul: A high-level policy coordination meeting between the ruling Democratic Party (DP) and the government was scheduled to take place later Sunday at the prime minister's residence. This meeting marks the first of its kind since Prime Minister Kim Min-seok assumed office following his parliamentary confirmation hearing.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the discussions are set to address a range of significant issues. Key topics on the agenda include strategies for the swift implementation of the government-proposed supplementary budget, which received approval from the National Assembly last week. Additionally, the meeting will focus on inflation countermeasures and the development of safety plans for disasters such as heat waves and flooding.
Representatives from the ruling party attending the meeting will include floor leader Kim Byung-kee, who is currently serving as the party's acting leader, and Rep. Jin Sung-joon, the party's policy committee chair. They will join the prime minister, Yoon Chang-ryeol, chief of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and First Vice Minister of Economy and Finance Lee Hyung-il, in these crucial discussions.
