Seoul: Renault Korea Motors Co., the South Korean unit of Renault S.A., announced a significant decline in its annual sales for the year 2025, primarily attributed to a decrease in exports. The company reported a 17.7 percent drop in sales compared to the previous year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Renault Korea sold a total of 88,044 vehicles in 2025, a decrease from the 106,939 units sold in 2024. This decline was largely influenced by a substantial decrease in export numbers, despite an increase in domestic sales. While domestic sales rose by 31.3 percent to 52,271 units, exports saw a significant drop of 46.7 percent, totaling 35,773 units.

Renault Korea credited the rise in domestic sales to a notable 85.5 percent increase in sales of the Grand Koleos sport utility vehicle (SUV). However, the company faced challenges in its export segment, with sales of the Arkana and QM6 SUVs declining by 54 percent and 96.2 percent, respectively, impacting overall performance.

The company expressed optimism for the coming year, anticipating a rebound in exports with the full-scale production and shipment of the Polestar 4 electric SUV from its Busan plant. This initiative began last year and is expected to contribute positively to the company's export figures.

In December alone, Renault Korea experienced a sharp decline in sales, with 6,749 vehicles sold compared to 14,647 units in the same month the previous year.
