Renault Korea Achieves 4 Million Cumulative Vehicle Production Milestone

Busan: Renault Korea Motors Co., the South Korean unit of France's Renault Group, announced that its cumulative vehicle production has exceeded 4 million units, marking this achievement 26 years after the company's inception in 2000.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company's sole manufacturing facility in Busan, located approximately 330 kilometers southeast of Seoul, has been a significant production hub for Renault Group, particularly for its D-segment models. Of the total vehicles produced, about 2.2 million were sold in the domestic market, while around 1.8 million units were exported.

The SM5 midsize sedan emerged as the top-selling vehicle with a cumulative production reaching 954,000 units. It was followed by the SM3 compact model with 805,000 units and the Nissan Rogue sport utility vehicle (SUV) with 585,000 units. "We will strive to achieve cumulative production of 5 million units, building on the strong competitiveness of the Busan plant and its workforce," stated Renault Korea Chief Executive Officer Nicolas Paris.

Renault Korea is currently manufacturing the Arcana compact SUV, the Grand Koleos SUV, and planning to launch the new flagship Filante SUV domestically in March. Additionally, the company produces the Polestar 4 electric SUV for export to the United States at the request of Polestar Korea. However, in 2025, Renault Korea's overall vehicle sales fell 18 percent on-year to 88,044 units due to sluggish exports.
