Tampa: The Tampa Bay Rays' new South Korean shortstop, Kim Ha-seong, has missed his third consecutive game due to a right calf cramp. Despite his absence from the field, Kim expressed that he is feeling "closer to normal." He made his debut for the Rays last Friday against the Minnesota Twins but had to leave the game prematurely after experiencing a calf cramp while attempting to steal third base.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim signed a two-year contract with the Rays in February, following his recovery from shoulder surgery with the San Diego Padres in October. Although he has not participated in any games since his debut, Kim has been actively practicing during the Rays' ongoing road trip. Prior to the Rays' 5-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Monday, Kim shared with Tampa Bay media that his leg condition is improving and he does not anticipate needing to be placed on the injured list.
Kim, who earned the National League Gold Glove for his utility performance in 2023, is expected to play a pivotal role for the Rays, both defensively and offensively.
In other Major League Baseball news, Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants managed a 1-for-4 performance with an RBI in a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite a recent slump, Lee contributed to his team's win with a key infield single and an RBI during a fielder's choice play. Meanwhile, Kim Hye-seong of the Los Angeles Dodgers struggled, going 0-for-4 in a 9-1 defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers, marking a challenging stretch in his recent performances.
