Mungyeong: A public virtual studio for virtual reality content creation has begun operations in the central city of Mungyeong, as announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT on Friday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Mungyeong Virtual Studio is equipped with advanced technology, including massive light-emitting diode walls and in-camera visual effects (VFX). This setup allows for the real-time production of final broadcast content, with VFX applied instantly during filming.
The facility is part of a substantial 15 billion-won (US$10.8 million) project, funded jointly by the central government and the municipal government of Mungyeong. Mungyeong, located about 180 kilometers south of Seoul, now boasts a production environment that supports year-round filming, enhancing its reputation as a popular filming location.
The city is renowned for hosting outdoor historical drama sets and has been a filming location for well-known historical dramas, including Netflix's zombie action thriller, "Kingdom."
