Seoul: The prosecution announced Wednesday the formation of a team to investigate the collapse of an overpass in Seoul that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to three others the day before.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors Office disclosed in a press notice that an 11-member team, comprising four prosecutors and six investigators, will collaborate with police and labor officials. The team's objective is to ascertain the cause of the collapse, identify those responsible, and provide prompt support to the victims.
The Seosomun Overpass in western Seoul partially fell during demolition work on Tuesday, claiming the lives of the chief supervisor of an engineering company, the site manager, and an external expert. The injured individuals, who were workers on-site, sustained injuries to the waist, head, and ribs, as reported by officials.
A prosecution official stated, "We will ensure the investigation proceeds smoothly as the team works together with the police from the warrant application stage."
