Gyeongju: The Presidential Security Service (PSS) announced on Thursday the establishment of a dedicated team tasked with ensuring the safety and protection of participants at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit scheduled for October.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Security Safety Control Group will be responsible for safeguarding heads of state, delegates, and other participants attending the multilateral summit in Gyeongju. The team is committed to providing full and adequate security protection for leaders, ministers, and guests across all venues during their time in South Korea, as stated by Ahn Kyung-ho, the acting chief of the PSS.

The newly formed group consists of six operational units, which include security, counterterrorism intelligence, police, military, firefighting, and Coast Guard operations. These units will work together to ensure comprehensive security measures are in place throughout the summit.
