Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index experienced a predominantly downward trend in its closing prices on Thursday, as several major stocks on the Korea Stock Exchange saw declines. The stock movements indicated a challenging day for investors, with numerous companies experiencing significant drops in their share prices.
According to Yonhap News Agency, prominent firms such as HyundaiMtr and SK hynix saw substantial declines, closing at 192,900 KRW and 200,500 KRW respectively, marking a decrease of 4,200 KRW and 5,500 KRW. DOOSAN faced one of the most notable drops, falling by 16,500 KRW to close at 392,000 KRW. Meanwhile, SamsungF and MIns saw its shares decrease by 8,000 KRW, ending at 370,000 KRW.
Despite the overall downward trend, a few companies managed to close with gains. Hanwha rose by 2,200 KRW to finish at 52,800 KRW, while DL increased by 1,200 KRW to 38,850 KRW. Kogas and POSCO INTERNATIONAL also ended the day on a positive note, with minor increases in their share prices.
The data highlights a challenging trading session, with more companies experiencing losses than gains. Investors and analysts will be closely monitoring these developments to assess the future impact on the market.
