Seoul:President Lee Jae Myung has pledged to enhance direct and active communication with the public, a presidential official revealed.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee expressed this commitment during his return flight to Seoul following a state visit to Mexico late last month. Seong Ghi-hong, the senior presidential secretary for public relations and communication, reported Lee's intention to bridge the gap between the public and the presidency through dialogue, rather than relying solely on social media.
Seong emphasized that while social media is one of many channels for engagement, the president aims for communication that lowers barriers between state affairs and the public. Lee has increased his activity on social media to discuss various political, diplomatic, and real estate issues, raising concerns about the frequency of his posts.
Despite some criticism that social media outreach may lack dignity and authority, Lee reiterated in a recent post on X that he intends to continue using the platform to engage with the public.
