President Lee Likely to Meet Samsung Electronics Chief for Talks on Chip Projects: Sources

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung is likely to meet with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong this week to possibly discuss the country's three mega projects centered on semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI), sources said Monday. The meeting is anticipated to explore collaborative opportunities in these critical sectors.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting comes shortly after President Lee's engagement with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won. President Lee is also expected to meet with Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung later this week, indicating a series of strategic discussions with key industry leaders.

The anticipated discussions occur amid speculation regarding the United States' interest in South Korean investment in its semiconductor industry. This is perceived as part of Seoul's broader investment commitments to the U.S., although Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan previously stated that no formal discussions have been conducted with Washington on this matter.
