Muranga: Kenya will achieve the status of a developed country if all Kenyans work together in support of an agenda that would transform the country, President William Ruto has said. The President emphasized that Kenya has stagnated for a long time and lagged behind its 1960s peers, despite having immense potential that must now be translated into transformation benefiting all Kenyans.
According to Nam News Network, President Ruto highlighted that Kenya was at the same economic level as Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea in the early 1960s. He pointed out that these countries made necessary decisions to advance to First World status, while Kenya remains in the Third World. He expressed confidence that Kenya could become a First World nation in the next 20 years if tribalism and bad politics are shunned, and a focus is maintained on necessary actions.
President Ruto stated that Kenya's economy has stabilized, allowing for the implementation of development initiatives across the country. Significant investments in agriculture, health, education, and job-creation policies and programs are underway to benefit the entire population. Addressing his critics, the President challenged them to present their plans and ideas, asserting that mere sloganeering would not bring about change.
In Muranga County, President Ruto announced a government allocation of more than KSh29 billion for development projects, including affordable housing, fresh produce markets, and student hostels. This includes KSh23 billion for building 10,300 housing units, KSh2.3 billion for constructing 23 fresh produce markets, KSh3 billion for 6,800-bed hostels at colleges and universities, and KSh3.5 billion for road tarmacking in the county.
Additionally, KSh800 million has been earmarked to connect residents to electricity, and two modern stadia worth KSh1.5 billion are planned. In the health sector, upgrades are underway for Kenneth Matiba Hospital with KSh200 million, and KSh350 million has been allocated for the construction of Bildad Kagia Hospital.
The President reported progress on the 182km Mau Mau roads section in Muranga County, with construction advancing from 20 percent to 65 percent completion since he took office. Roads under construction or procurement include Kandara-Gakui-Gatitu, Manjuu-Kagumo-ini-Kariti, and others.
Furthermore, KSh2.4 billion has been allocated for water projects in the county, including the KSh1.3 billion Kandara Bulk Water Project. Present at the event were Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and several Members of Parliament, who expressed their support for the government's initiatives and urged continued steadfast backing.
Prof Kindiki commended the Muranga leadership for their unwavering support and urged them to remain steadfast in supporting the government.
