Seoul: Police and military officials have initiated a joint investigation to scrutinize North Korea's allegations of drone incursions across the inter-Korean border. This collaborative effort began on Monday following the claims made by North Korea over the weekend.

According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea's military accused South Korea of violating its sovereignty by dispatching drones into its territory both in September and on January 4. However, South Korea's defense ministry has refuted these assertions, denying any involvement in such activities.

The investigation is being conducted by a joint team comprising approximately 30 officials from both the police and military sectors. The National Police Agency's National Office of Investigation has taken the lead in probing these alleged incursions, aiming to uncover the truth behind the claims.

South Korea's military has consistently denied any involvement in deploying or operating the drone models that North Korea claims to have discovered. This denial has led to speculation that private entities might be responsible for the alleged incursions, highlighting the complexity of the situation.
