Seoul: Tving, the streaming platform of content giant CJ ENM Co., announced that personal information of its users has been leaked due to unauthorized external access. The company has issued an apology for the data breach.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Tving confirmed that personal information, including IDs, names, birthdays, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses of its users, has been compromised. However, they assured that resident registration numbers and payment-related information remain secure.
Choi Ju-hee, the chief executive of Tving, apologized and stated that the company is in the process of notifying the affected individuals and taking necessary remedial actions. "We are implementing necessary measures after identifying the incident and currently faithfully cooperating with an investigation by the government and relevant agencies," she said. "We are fully committed to providing remedies for those affected and protecting our users."
The science ministry has responded by deciding to establish a private-government team to investigate the data breach.
