Seoul: Park Eun-bin, known for her role as an autistic lawyer in the hit drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" (2022), has reunited with director Yoo In-shik for the Netflix series "The Wonderfools." This action-comedy follows an unusual group who discover they have superpowers.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the series, set in 1999, features Park as Eun Chae-ni, a quick-tempered resident of the fictional city of Haeseong who suffers from a chronic heart condition and suddenly gains the power to teleport. Alongside her are other townspeople-turned-superheroes, including a kind friend working in a restaurant kitchen and a father struggling after losing his job post-Asian financial crisis.
These newfound heroes, along with a mysterious public servant played by singer-actor Cha Eun-woo, band together to defend their town from threats. Park shared that she learned about "The Wonderfools" during a conversation with Yoo while filming "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," and was excited by the project's potential.
Director Yoo expressed his admiration for Park's versatility, noting, "I felt there is nothing impossible for this actor." He aims for "The Wonderfools" to provide the same excitement as childhood favorites like "The Goonies" and Indiana Jones.
Park also emphasized the fun aspect of the series, stating, "I started this project because I wanted to have fun." Her character, Chae-ni, offers a refreshing simplicity that Park hopes will resonate with viewers.
