Seoul: The Kiwoom Heroes announced that their injury replacement pitcher, Kenny Rosenberg, is set to join the club this week following a delay in his visa issuance.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Rosenberg was signed by the Heroes on April 21 to a six-week contract worth US$50,000 to temporarily replace the injured starting pitcher Nathan Wiles. Despite the signing, Rosenberg's visa was only issued on Monday, U.S. local time, delaying his arrival. Rosenberg communicated earlier in the day that he was scheduled to take his flight to South Korea on Tuesday night, U.S. time. The Heroes confirmed that Rosenberg is expected to arrive at Incheon International Airport, west of Seoul, early Thursday.

The Heroes have lost more than half of Rosenberg's initial contract period due to the visa delay. However, they have the option to extend the temporary contract if Wiles is not yet ready to return to the field. Heroes Manager Seol Jong-jin mentioned that Rosenberg will meet the team at their home park, Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, later on Thursday. The team is currently hosting the Hanwha Eagles for a three-game series starting from Tuesday.

Rosenberg, who previously made 13 starts for the Heroes last year, had his first season in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) cut short due to a hip injury. During that stint, he recorded a 4-4 win-loss record with a 3.23 ERA over 75 1/3 innings. Manager Seol stated that the team's trainers will assess Rosenberg's physical condition upon arrival to decide when he can start pitching. There is a possibility that he might make his first start over the upcoming weekend if all goes well.

Rosenberg had been a free agent since his brief time in the KBO last year, but Manager Seol noted that Rosenberg assured the team's management of his readiness to play. He has remained active by participating in live batting practice sessions and was considering offers from other U.S. clubs, which motivated him to stay in shape.
