Nvidia to Invest $1 Billion in Naver, Becoming a Major Shareholder

Seoul:Nvidia Corp. is set to finalize its $1 billion investment in Naver Corp. next Friday, as revealed in Naver's regulatory filing on Friday. This significant financial move will make Nvidia the third-largest shareholder in the South Korean IT company.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the completion of this capital increase follows Naver's successful acquisition of at least $9 billion in computing infrastructure. The number of common shares Nvidia will acquire through a rights offering is set to be determined on Tuesday.

Currently, the largest shareholder of Naver is South Korea's national pension fund, holding 9.49 percent, followed by BlackRock, a global asset manager, with 7.31 percent. The upcoming investment by Nvidia is part of a strategic partnership with Naver, announced in July, aimed at establishing a large-scale global artificial intelligence (AI) factory.
