Taipei: Jensen Huang, chief executive officer of Nvidia Corp., recently met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won in Taipei to discuss potential collaborations in artificial intelligence (AI) memory. The meeting was confirmed by SK Group on Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting occurred on Monday as both executives were present in Taipei to attend Computex, one of Asia's leading technology trade shows. SK Group's Facebook account revealed that the discussion was partly motivated by SK hynix achieving a market capitalization of US$1 trillion. The meeting served as a platform for both companies to acknowledge this milestone and to explore future cooperation in AI memory infrastructure.
The discussions also included reflections on past achievements in AI memory development and a reaffirmation of their mutual commitment to advancing AI infrastructure. Huang expressed interest in investing in robotics in South Korea during his upcoming visit to the country later this week.
Industry sources indicate that Huang's trip to Seoul will commence on Thursday night. On Friday, he is expected to engage in meetings with leaders of major South Korean conglomerates, including Chey, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Lee Hae-jin, founder and chairman of Naver's board. Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung is also considering participating in these discussions.
Industry observers suggest that these talks could extend beyond AI semiconductor collaboration to encompass robotics and physical AI, which focuses on integrating AI with real-world machines and systems. During a previous visit to Seoul in October, Huang gained attention for sharing a late-night meal of Korean fried chicken and beer, known as "chimaek," with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Chung during the APEC CEO Summit in Gyeongju.
