Seoul:North Korean Vice Defense Minister Ryo Chol-ung has traveled to Vietnam as part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Ryo, accompanied by a delegation, left Pyongyang on Tuesday. The departure was attended by officials from the North Korean defense ministry, along with Vietnam's ambassador to North Korea and the embassy's defense attache.

Details regarding the delegation's itinerary and the specific purpose of the visit have not been disclosed. However, the visit comes as both Pyongyang and Hanoi are actively working to deepen their bilateral relations.

Earlier this month, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un expressed his commitment to strengthening ties in a letter to Vietnam's President To Lam, coinciding with Vietnam's 81st founding anniversary. Since an October summit, the two countries have been moving closer.

In recent months, high-level exchanges have taken place between the two nations. Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung visited North Korea in May for discussions with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui. In June, security ministers from both countries met in Pyongyang to explore expanding cooperation in public security and law enforcement.
