North Korean Leader’s Sister Warns of Unstable Border Situation

Accra:Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has described the situation at the southern border as "very unstable." She mentioned that the North is contemplating the resumption of loudspeaker broadcasts along the border.

According to Yonhap News Agency, her comments follow North Korea's repeated denials of involvement in a land mine explosion last month that injured three South Korean soldiers. Pyongyang dismissed Seoul's findings that the land mines were deliberately planted by the North.

Kim Yo-jong accused the South Korean military of escalating tensions and threatening North Korean soldiers, calling their actions a step beyond the "red line." She referred to the incident as a "fabricated 'mine explosion farce'" and detailed that South Korea conducted numerous loudspeaker broadcasts and warning shots in the recent months.

Criticizing the administration of President Lee Jae Myung, Kim claimed it surpassed the previous conservative government in its policies while still advocating for peace. She warned of potential North Korean military actions, including deploying tactical strike means along the border and resuming broadcasts, in response to the situation.

Kim cautioned the South Korean military against actions that could further destabilize the border, suggesting that such behavior could lead to severe consequences for Seoul. Her remarks come after North Korea paused its border broadcasts last year in response to South Korea's suspension of similar activities aimed at building inter-Korean trust.
