North Korea Prepares for Workers’ Party Anniversary with Festive Events

Sanaa:North Korea is creating a celebratory atmosphere and fostering public loyalty in anticipation of the 81st founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPA) through a series of events.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, one of the country's four labor organizations, held a celebration on Wednesday. During a debate session, participants emphasized the importance of stronger party leadership, rigorous ideological education, and achieving the party's grain production targets.

In addition to debates, artistic events are being held leading up to the October 10 anniversary. The Youth Central Art Propaganda Team performed on Wednesday, coinciding with the opening ceremony of the National Art Exhibition at the Korean Central Art Gallery, attended by party cadres and artists.

The Rodong Sinmun featured a front-page article that urged readers to uphold the party's history, ideology, and founding spirit. It also noted the increasing number of visitors to the Party Founding Museum in the capital during the anniversary period.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that flower baskets from foreign leaders, including those from the presidents of Laos and Palestine, as well as from the corps of military attaches in North Korea, have begun arriving for leader Kim Jong-un.

A senior official from South Korea's unification ministry stated that Seoul does not anticipate any grand-scale events for this year's anniversary, as it is considered an interim one. North Korea typically reserves large-scale celebrations, such as military parades and mass displays, for anniversaries ending in zero or five.

Last year, the country held a significant late-night military parade at Kim Il Sung Square, showcasing the Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile, which is thought to have the capability of carrying multiple nuclear warheads and reaching the U.S. mainland.
