North Korea Conducts Test-Fire of Advanced Rocket Launcher System

Pyongyang: North Korea has conducted a test-fire of its renewed large-caliber multiple rocket launcher system, with the event being overseen by leader Kim Jong-un, as stated by state media on Wednesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the test, which took place on Tuesday, involved the launch of four rockets equipped with new technology. These rockets successfully hit a target located 358.5 kilometers away in the waters from the launch point, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

On the previous day, South Korea's military reported detecting multiple short-range ballistic missiles launched from an area north of Pyongyang directed towards the East Sea. This military activity comes as North Korea is anticipated to hold its first ruling party congress in five years early next month.

The KCNA also quoted Kim Jong-un as stating that the upcoming ninth congress "will clarify the next-stage plans for further bolstering up the country's nuclear deterrent."
