Nexon’s Q4 Net Drops 66 Pct on Bonus Costs Amid ARC Raiders Success

Seoul: South Korea's leading online gaming firm Nexon Co. reported a 66 percent decline in its fourth-quarter net profit compared to the previous year, primarily due to increased costs associated with performance-based bonuses amidst the successful launch of its new title, ARC Raiders. The company announced that its net profit for the October-December period was 101.9 billion won (US$70.7 million), a significant decrease from 293 billion won a year earlier.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Nexon's operating profit reached 67.4 billion won, marking a turnaround from a net loss of 15.8 billion won in the same quarter the previous year. This improvement was accompanied by a 55 percent increase in sales, which amounted to 1.16 trillion won. Nexon attributed the decline in net profit to higher bonus payouts and platform fees tied to the strong sales performance of ARC Raiders, a shooter game released in October.

The company's sales in North America and Europe saw nearly a fivefold increase in the fourth quarter compared to the same period last year, driven by the popularity of ARC Raiders. The game sold 10 million copies worldwide within the first two months of its release, underscoring its success in the global market.

For the entire year of 2025, Nexon recorded a net profit of 873.3 billion won, representing a 32 percent decrease from the previous year. The operating profit remained almost unchanged at 1.18 trillion won, while annual sales experienced a 6 percent rise, reaching 4.5 trillion won.
