Seoul: With a fresh lineup, South Korea's national football team bounced back from a heavy 5-0 defeat against Brazil, securing a 2-0 victory over Paraguay at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

According to Yonhap News Agency, head coach Hong Myung-bo made significant changes to the starting lineup, introducing eight new players to rejuvenate the team. This strategic move was aimed at quickly overcoming the previous defeat and maintaining a favorable position in the FIFA rankings, crucial for the upcoming World Cup draw.

Among the notable changes, center back Kim Min-jae was paired with new partners Lee Han-beom and Park Jin-seob in defense. The team also featured new wingbacks, Lee Myung-jae and Kim Moon-hwan, while striker Son Heung-min was joined by newcomers Eom Ji-sung and Lee Dong-gyeong upfront. In goal, Kim Seung-gyu replaced Jo Hyeon-woo.

Despite initial challenges, such as a miscommunication between Lee Han-beom and Kim Seung-gyu that almost led to an early goal by Paraguay, the new defensive lineup settled down. Eom Ji-sung opened the scoring in the 15th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Junior Alonso after a precise cross from Lee Myung-jae.

Kim Moon-hwan stood out with his dynamic play on the right flank, contributing both defensively and offensively. His efforts were instrumental in creating opportunities for the team, exemplified by his key role in a counterattack during the first half.

In the second half, Oh Hyeon-gyu replaced Son Heung-min and made an immediate impact by scoring in the 75th minute, solidifying South Korea's lead. Cho Yu-min also came on to enhance the defense, replacing Lee Han-beom following a risky back pass that nearly cost the team a goal before halftime.

The victory not only helped South Korea regain confidence but also ensured their position in Pot 2 for the World Cup draw, reducing the risk of facing higher-ranked teams in the group stage.
