Taipei: The cloud subsidiary of Naver Corp. is set to collaborate with Nvidia Corp. to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) factory, announced the chief executive officer of the South Korean company. Kim Yu-won, the CEO of Naver Cloud, disclosed this development at the Nvidia Cloud Partners Summit currently taking place in Taipei. The announcement comes as the U.S. chip giant's chief, Jensen Huang, is scheduled to visit Seoul later this week.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Jensen Huang is expected to meet with executives from prominent South Korean companies, including SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Lee Hae-jin, founder and board chair of Naver. Industry sources have revealed that these meetings aim to discuss further collaborations and advancements in AI technologies.

Kim Yu-won emphasized at the event that Naver Cloud possesses "full-stack" technical capabilities, covering all facets from AI infrastructure to services. He noted that Naver Cloud aligns well with Nvidia's AI factory platform strategy, which encompasses energy, chips, infrastructure, applications, and models. An AI factory is described as next-generation AI infrastructure designed to train and execute large-scale AI models, applying them to real-world services and industrial scenarios.

Naver Cloud plans to leverage Nvidia's Nemotron 3, a collection of open models crafted for agentic AI, to enhance its HyperCLOVA X, Naver's hyperscale AI. Additionally, they aim to engage in joint research on super large language models (LLMs) and support the development of sovereign AI models tailored for each respective country, Kim added.
