National Security Office Discusses North Korea’s Latest Missile Launch

Seoul: The presidential National Security Office convened a meeting Tuesday to discuss North Korea's firing of short-range ballistic missiles. Yin Sung-hwan, second deputy director of the National Security Office, presided over the meeting with the military and other related agencies to discuss North Korea's missile launch and responses, the presidential office said.

According to Yonhap News Agency, "The government will closely monitor North Korea's movements and maintain firm readiness to respond to any provocations," the office of the presidential spokesperson said in a notice to the press.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles at around 9:30 a.m., just days before U.S. President-elect Donald Trump takes office. Tuesday's launch marked Pyongyang's second missile launch this year, after it fired what it claimed to be a hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile last week.
