“Narumon” requests survey of damage from flooding in agricultural areas before submitting to the Cabinet for budget relief, refuses to answer whether the leaked audio clip is “Uncle Pom” or not.
Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, gave an interview about the compensation for agricultural areas affected by the flood problem, saying that it is currently being assessed with the Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Board. She asked to wait for the figures to be settled before presenting them to the Cabinet meeting to request a budget for compensation.
When asked how much the compensation would be, Ms. Narumon said that there were already regulations because there were farmers in both crops, fisheries and livestock. As for the estimated damage, how much damage was there? If it were an estimated figure, it would be 3 billion baht, but at this time, she would wait for the figures to settle down before making another assessment. Also, whether they would
go to the area themselves, Mr. Akara Prompao, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Mr. Itthi Sirilathayakorn, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, had already gone to the area. Currently, they are in the process of a big cleaning.
When asked again whether she had spoken to Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, the leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, and whether she expressed concern about the audio clip that had been released, Ms. Narumon declined to answer the question and smiled before raising her hands in a wai to the media before immediately leaving.
