Pyongyang: North Korea has conducted the 11th meeting of the intergovernmental committee on economic cooperation with Russia, discussing various issues related to mutual cooperation, as reported by the North's state media on Wednesday. The meeting highlighted areas such as energy, agriculture, science, technology, health, and tourism. According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting was attended by Yun Jong-ho, North Korea's external economic relations minister, and Alexander Kozlov, Russia's Natural Resources Minister. The session, which took place in Pyongyang, was part of the Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science, and Technology. This marks the seventh session held in the North Korean capital since the committee's establishment in 1996. The discussions focused on evaluating the implementation of agreements made in previous meetings and exploring detailed areas for mutual cooperation. The Russian delegation, led by Kozlov, was in Pyongyang for the committee meeting, further em phasizing the ongoing partnership between the two nations. On Monday, a notable event occurred when North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met with Alexander Kozlov. Kim's personal involvement in meeting and seeing off Kozlov outside the meeting venue underscored the importance of the bilateral relations. This meeting was significant as it was the first time a North Korean leader met with a Russian head of the committee. An official from South Korea's unification ministry commented on Kim Jong-un's meeting with Kozlov, describing it as an indication of North Korea's expectations for enhanced bilateral economic exchanges and a demonstration of the close ties with Russia.
