Money Supply Sees Slight Decline in November After Seven-Month Rise: BOK

South korea: South Korea's money supply saw a minor decrease in November, marking the end of a continuous seven-month increase, as revealed by the central bank data on Wednesday. The M2 money supply, a crucial indicator, registered at 4,057.5 trillion won (US$2.74 trillion) for November, a slight drop from October's 4,059.5 trillion won, based on preliminary figures from the Bank of Korea (BOK).

According to Yonhap News Agency, the consistent rise in the money supply since April was halted due to a decrease in deposits, which counterbalanced the inflows into stock funds. M2 is a significant measure of the money supply that includes cash, demand deposits, and other financial instruments that can be easily converted into cash.

The central bank is scheduled to conduct its rate-setting meeting this week, with widespread expectations that it will maintain the benchmark rate at 2.5 percent.
