Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index saw varied performances among its listed companies today, with S-Oil and SKSQUARE experiencing significant gains despite widespread declines in other sectors.

According to Yonhap News Agency, S-Oil closed at 105,900, marking an increase of 5,600, while SKSQUARE saw a substantial rise of 39,000, closing at 570,000. Youngone Corp also experienced a notable uptick, closing at 90,900 with an increase of 6,500.

However, the overall sentiment in the market was negative, with several companies facing declines. ORION Holdings dropped by 300, closing at 20,900, and Daesang fell by 250 to 21,650. More significant declines included HyundaiMtr, which decreased by 28,000 to close at 500,000, and Korea Zinc, which dropped by 75,000 to 1,884,000.

Among other notable performers, LG Innotek and LOTTE CHEMICAL Corp both saw declines, with LG Innotek closing down by 3,000 at 245,000 and LOTTE CHEMICAL Corp down by 3,000 to 83,400. Meanwhile, LS ELECTRIC saw a positive movement, closing up by 9,000 at 566,000.

The day also saw a decline in Hyundai WIA, which fell by 4,100 to 85,700, and KumhoPetrochem which decreased by 800 to close at 144,100. On the other hand, GS Retail ended the day with an increase of 1,050, closing at 22,150, and Hanssem closed up by 250 at 46,600.

The report further highlighted declines in companies like LIG Nex1, which dropped by 43,500 to 481,500, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, which fell by 13,000 to 575,000. Despite some gains, the overall market trend indicated a cautious investor sentiment amid these mixed performances.
