Seoul: South Korea's military has issued a warning to its citizens regarding the potential danger posed by North Korean land mines, which could be carried into the South due to heavy rainfall.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) released a statement on Sunday highlighting the risk of land mines in wooden casings being dislodged by torrential rains. The statement emphasized that these mines could potentially flow into South Korean territory, posing a significant threat to public safety.

The JCS strongly advised citizens to avoid contact with any objects they suspect might be land mines. In the case of encountering such objects, individuals are urged to report them immediately to local police or military authorities to ensure proper handling and disposal.

This cautionary measure is part of ongoing efforts by South Korea's military to safeguard its citizens from potential hazards arising from its northern neighbor, particularly during periods of severe weather.
