Mesh to Focus on APAC in Crypto Expansion

Seoul:The Asia Pacific (APAC) region, including South Korea, is poised to become a significant player in the crypto era, according to Jason Ne Win, chief executive officer for APAC at startup Mesh. The company plans to intensify efforts within these markets.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Ne Win shared these insights during an interview at the Korea Blockchain Week 2026 in Seoul. He emphasized the potential of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to rival the Group of Seven (G7) countries, highlighting the robust economies of South Korea and Japan.

Mesh, a unicorn startup valued at $1 billion, launched its APAC operations in April following a $75 million Series C funding round. The company, which operates the world's first crypto orchestration platform, boasts around 300 partners, including major investors PayPal and Samsung Next.

Ne Win noted that Asia was responsible for 60 percent of all stablecoin movements in 2025, with five to seven of the top 10 crypto markets located in the APAC region. He expects the region to account for up to 60 percent of global purchasing power by 2030, attributing this growth to advanced infrastructure and new payment methods like QR codes.

Mesh, despite its small team of five in Asia, is rapidly expanding its presence, having signed nearly 10 deals with local partners. The company has engaged with South Korean firms, particularly in payments and commerce, and supports the country's potential move to issue won-denominated stablecoins.

Ne Win expressed confidence that stablecoins will eventually reflect true commerce and financial exchange, with each country having its own currency-denominated stablecoins. He also advised South Korean regulators to adopt a global perspective to foster virtual assets in the mainstream financial system.
