Sana'a: An expanded meeting was held today at the Ministry of Local and Rural Administration, chaired by Deputy Minister Nasser Al-Mahdhar, to discuss the role of community committees and development pioneers in establishing and activating the work of multi-purpose cooperative associations and implementing Ramadan activities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by the Director of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Local and Rural Administration, Jamal Al-Alawi, the Director of Al-Thawrah District, Aqeel Al-Saqqaf, and members of community committees and development pioneers in the district, affirmed the necessity of paying attention to establishing cooperative associations, activating their role, and expanding their activities as they are a fundamental pillar in achieving the desired change aimed at creating real development and improving the level of services.
The meeting emphasized the effective role of development pioneers and community committees in urging community members to establish cooperative associations, join them, expand their activities, and increase contributors to them. These associations are seen as the most prominent feature of community participation in the development process, ensuring the sustainability of development projects and improving the level of services for citizens.
The meeting, which included the official of the Policies File, Nabil Al-Dimashqi, and the Director of Initiatives at the Ministry, Abdu Misri, stressed the importance of increasing awareness activities targeting various segments of society through field visits, workshops, and festivals. These activities aim to educate and raise awareness among people about the importance of voluntary work and implementing community development and service initiatives.
Attendees affirmed the importance of Al-Thawrah District serving as a model for other districts in the Capital Secretariat and governorates in various fields, especially in voluntary work and implementing community initiatives. They noted the need to invest Ramadan activities in promoting the importance of associations and expanding their fields of work.
They called for attention to implementing the cultural Ramadan program and activities at the district, neighborhood, and locality levels. This includes a focus on supporting the activities of charitable kitchens and bakeries and promoting the initiative for planting date seeds to ensure agricultural development and achieve self-sufficiency.
