LPGA Sophomore Yoon Ina Achieves First Top-10 Finish at Major

Houston: Yoon Ina has enjoyed her first career top-10 finish at an LPGA major tournament. Yoon tied for fourth place at the Chevron Championship at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston at 12-under 276, following a final round of 68 on Sunday (local time). This was the best showing at a major for Yoon, an LPGA sophomore who cracked the top 20 only once and missed two cuts at her five major appearances as a rookie. Yoon ended up six strokes back of the champion, Nelly Korda of the United States.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Yoon poured in four birdies on the front nine but lost steam with three consecutive bogeys starting at the par-3 11th. Yoon bounced back with birdies at the 14th and 15th, and then made another birdie at the 18th to cap her best performance at a major. "I feel great. I did a pretty good job to focus on my process today," Yoon said afterward. "Pretty proud of myself. Just try to control what I can control, and I think that works great."

Kim Hyo-joo was the second-best South Korean as she finished alone in sixth at seven-under 281. After starting the tournament with rounds of 70 and 74, Kim shot 68-69 over the weekend. Kim's final day included three birdies, an eagle and two bogeys. Kim had two LPGA wins this season, one of three multiple champions of 2026, alongside Korda and Hannah Green of Australia, both of whom have two victories apiece.

With her third career major title, Korda continued her dominant season in which she has yet to finish lower than second place in five starts. She won the season opener, the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, in January, and then finished runner-up to Kim in back-to-back weeks in March. She tied for second at the Aramco Championship earlier this month before returning to the winner's circle this time.
