Lions Captain Koo Ja-wook Shines in Korean Series with Legendary Lee Seung-yuop Present

Daegu:After delivering the ceremonial first pitch for Game 3 of the Korean Series between the Samsung Lions and the KT Wiz, Lions legend Lee Seung-yuop praised the development of current Lions captain Koo Ja-wook, who played a pivotal role in the team's 5-1 victory.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee, who holds the record for the most home runs in Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) history, expressed admiration for Koo, noting his evolution into a "true leader" since they were teammates from 2015 to 2017. With Lee watching from the stands, Koo hit a crucial two-run triple in the second inning, contributing significantly to the Lions' win and securing a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Despite dealing with a hamstring injury, Koo managed to reach third base safely, an impressive feat that inspired his teammates. Choi Hyoung-woo's single had earlier tied the game after the Lions conceded the first run. Kim Seong-yoon's groundout and Koo's triple extended the Lions' lead.

Koo's performance stirred emotions among his teammates, many of whom are also playing through injuries. He emphasized the collective spirit and teamwork as key factors in their victory. Entering the series as the underdogs, the Lions overcame a tough start, losing the first game but bouncing back to win the next two matches.

Koo highlighted the team's unwavering goal set from the beginning of the season, which fueled their determination and resilience throughout the series.
