LG Twins Secure Victory Over Doosan Bears in Stadium’s Final Regular-Season Game

Seoul:The LG Twins emerged victorious against their Seoul rivals, the Doosan Bears, with a 7-5 win in what was the last regular-season game at a stadium slated for demolition after this year. This victory ensured the Twins at least the fourth seed in the upcoming postseason.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Twins' record improved to 77-63-1, guaranteeing they will not finish lower than fourth place, regardless of the outcomes of their remaining three games. The Twins still have a chance to overtake the Kia Tigers for third place. The Tigers remained in third with a 76-62-2 record after defeating the Lotte Giants 12-4, while the Bears secured the fifth spot with a 73-65-5 record.

In the Korea Baseball Organization, the top five teams qualify for the postseason. The fourth and fifth seeds compete in the wild card round, with the third seed advancing directly to the first round. The second seed gets a bye to the second round, and the pennant winner advances directly to the Korean Series.

During the game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, Lee Jae-won of the LG Twins hit a three-run home run against the Bears' pitcher Choi Min-seok in the bottom of the second inning. The Bears responded with five runs in the third inning, thanks to key hits from An Jae-seok and Kim Min-suk, giving them a temporary 5-3 lead.

The Twins equalized in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run single from Moon Bo-gyeong. They then took the lead in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a fielding error by the Bears to go ahead 7-5. LG's Im Chan-kyu, set to break the tie with Choi and another pitcher for the league lead in wins, was supported by a strong bullpen performance that limited the Bears to one hit over the final four innings.
