Seoul: LG Electronics Inc. on Friday reported its fourth-quarter net loss of 725.9 billion won (US$505.7 million), remaining in the red compared with a year ago. The company posted an operating loss of 109 billion won for the October-December period, compared with a profit of 135.4 billion won a year ago. Sales, however, rose 4.8 percent to 23.85 trillion won.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this marks another quarter where LG Electronics struggles to return to profitability. Despite the increase in sales, the operating loss highlights ongoing challenges for the company. The financial report indicates that LG is facing difficulties in maintaining its profit margins amidst rising costs and competitive pressures in the electronics market.

The company has been undergoing strategic shifts to address these challenges, including initiatives to streamline operations and focus on high-growth areas. However, the latest figures suggest that these efforts have yet to translate into improved financial results.
